Just got off a shuttle flight with our new pilot, Thermo Vreld. As we approached the fire side of the twilight zone, I expected the usual turbulence. But he kept a steady hand, never flinching. When we touched down, he said, "Equilibrium is the illusion." I needed to know more. Our conversation turned to thermal logistics. He explained how his journey to become a pilot required mastering the gradient, syncing his body temperature with the shuttle's. For every mission, he fine-tunes not just the shuttle’s systems but his own. "If you want to truly understand the gradient," he shared over a hot cocoa, "you have to live it, not just fly through it." That moment cooled my overreliant approach to thermal equilibrium.
